Tim Atkins is the SCC Schools' worker and is now going into 15 schools every term, taking assemblies and lessons. Tim visits infants, primary and secondary schools across East Birmingham, and sometimes further afield, conveying the Christian message of hope to young people in a relevant way, adding his own touch of unique humour. Watch this space for further news about the schools ministry of SCC. |

At SCC we firmly believe that children are not the church of tomorrow, they are, in fact, the church of today. To this end, children are actively invited to attend both the main church services, the "Energize" on a Sunday midday, and "Club T" on a Thursday evening. There are also regular events for our 18-30's age group which incorporate a range of social events (bowling, cinema, and the beloved Balti!). |
Club T : Club T is an exciting and action-packed kids club aimed at 5-11 year olds. All kids are welcome to come along and get involved in playing football and other games, get painting, make incredible collages, and come and meet some great characters, such as the "Mad Scientist" in our 'God-Spot'. MISS IT - MISS OUT |
The Hub : The format is less like a 'meeting' and more like a club where there are loads of activities for the young people to take part in, or alternatively, just sit and chat and listen to music if they like. Young people certainly don't always appreciate having the gospel jammed down their throats, so we simply show them God's love and get to know them where they are at. This in itself often throws up questions from the young people which we are very happy to try and answer. |
Energize : Some of the activities the kids particularly enjoy are the songs ( "Our God is a great big God" is a particular favourite!), the "Sword Drill" (which is a fastest finger race to find the Scripture first) and the group Bible stories, where the kids are split into similar age groups and are told one of the many stories from the Bible. Energize is a place where kids can come and be encouraged to worship God using all of their boundless energy and enthusiasm. Proverbs 22 verse 6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it". |
